Prescription Polarising Sunglasses. Product Review. I have used polarising sunglasses for many years whilst fishing and watching fish as subjects to paint. They are the anglers best friend, giving clear sharp vision deep into the water, enabling the angler to spot fish beneath the surface that would otherwise be impossible to see. But how do they work? Daylight travels in waves, moving in all directions of three-dimensional space. Polarised light also travels, but mostly moves in two dimensions: horizontally and vertically. Vertical light brings useful information to the human eye, enabling us to see colors and contrasts, while horizontal light creates glare. Where light strikes the surface of the water it often reflects primarily in a horizontal plane. This creates a high concentration of glare which can be blocked only by a good quality polarizing filter. Polarising lenses filter out the horizontal light, thus eliminating glare, useful in both Summer and Winter. In short, Polarising sunglasses give you glare free vision, greater contrast and colour perception, and also UV protection. Wearing good quality polarising glasses will also reduce eye fatigue, which often gives rise to headaches.
